Kitty, I reviewed our store surveillance today because your feedback does not represent our normal store policies and procedures. It is our policy to review this video and audio with our crew so that we can reflect and learn from any negative reviews. Since we are a small family-owned business, any negative reviews impact us greatly and we do our best to meet our customer's needs. I was able to review the video from the time we opened; 9:15am, until about 11:30am, and I was unable to find any video that corresponds with your feedback. Every customer that had entered the shop during the time period I watched was greeted appropriately and assisted accordingly. We are all members of this community, live in local neighborhoods, have children in local schools, participate in local sports, etc and so it is disheartening to hear that someone was made to feel uncomfortable and felt that we are anything but just normal everyday people.

If you would like to contact me directly and provide me with more details regarding your interaction with our employee, that would be helpful. The owner does not work behind the counter here so I do not know who you spoke with and cannot speak directly to that. In regards to our pricing, we use eBay completed/sold item listings as a method to value our items both when they come into our store for loan and again before an item goes out for sale. We have been using this pricing method for years. For items that are on the shelf longer than 30 days, we offer 15%, 20%, and 30% off discounts. We do our best to offer competitive pricing while also trying to meet our customer’s needs. Our goal is to have the best pawn shop in Ventura. Please feel free to contact me directly anytime. This is 100% false and slanderous. If you have a SPECIFIC situation that you’d like to discuss, feel free to contact VPD directly. We have been in this neighborhood since 1992 and have happily served thousands of customers. We DO NOT have an issue with stolen property and we enjoy a positive relationship with VPD. Pawn Shops are one of the most heavily regulated industries. We comply with both State and Federal law, as well as have numerous compliance programs in place for things like Anti-Money Laundering, Military lending, etc. We have a thorough qualification process for our loans, we require ID, acquire fingerprints and a digital signature that testifies to the fact that the item belongs to the person pawning/selling it. All of this information is uploaded DAILY into a statewide database accessible to law enforcement and we are required by law to gather and share this information WITH law enforcement. All of this is recorded on camera and the amount of people that walk through our doors with stolen property to go through this process is RARE. Furthermore, it is a CRIME to knowingly pawn or sell us stolen property and we press charges on anyone who is charged with a crime involving us and stolen property. Our pawnbroker license is renewed every few years and if we are perceived by law enforcement to be involved in any level of crime, they simply would not renew our license. But, again, we enjoy a very positive relationship with all local law enforcement. We also enjoy a very positive relationship with our many customers, local businesses and we donate regularly to local sports organizations, schools, and community groups. Our children attend local schools and we live in local neighborhoods. We are part of this community and we stand by the service we provide. I will now be exploring my legal options in regards to this slander and false accusations that do nothing but damage our good name. Jenifer Manager
