I am trying to decide if switching to a different financial institution would be best for me. The last two weeks have been more frustrating working with employees trying to verify my employment, while we refinance our home. First (Tuesday) they waited to call two hours before a prescheduled refinance mortgage appointment. I expressed my concern during the appointment that sometimes my bosses are gone for a week at a time, and they should not wait until the day of for any member. To me these appointments are very important and definitely not a cheap process. I asked what would happen if my employers were unavailable..because they waited until last minute I cannot get my loan processed? Yesterday @ 9:30 am, an employee called me to tell me everything was ready to go, and expressed her apology for some of the nonsense that has happened. I was appreciative and hopeful. Then someome called my employer again today! Three days after my appointment to again verify my employment for refinancing ..so why call again today and ask exact same questions?! I called and left a voice mail for someone to call me and let me know where this process is at. I'm really disgusted at this point.

      Response from the owner

Tami, we really appreciate you taking the time to express your feelings. We know that your experience can help other people in our communities make the best choice when looking for a lender, and we hope we can prove to you that we're still the best option. I'm going to pass your feedback here along to our VP of Sales, and make sure that someone on our team gets in touch ASAP.

Always get the run around n get told we are busy then will see almost half the staff talking when not can’t own up to mistakes or anything

      Response from the owner

We're genuinely sad to know that we've made that impression on you. While we know it can be hard to tell who can help you and who can't as our team is buzzing around the branch, we never want you to feel ignored or dismissed. If you haven't talked to our VP of Service (or another manager) yet, drop us a line and let us know the best way to reach you so we can work things out and start building your trust again.

Get Saturday hours! Your lobby should be open by now with social distancing and cleaning procedures. Come on!! Why is this taking so long? Does a real person read these reviews? Nothing gets changed. Bad customer service.

      Response from the owner

Thanks for taking the time to give us that feedback, JoAnn. Yes, a real person reads these, in fact, more than one, and we make sure to get them to the right people on the team. Hopefully you understand, though, that as much as we appreciate knowing how people are feeling, there might be a lot of reasons we don't make a change. None of those reasons, though, are because we don't take your feedback seriously. As of today (June 15th) you can visit our lobby by appointment or use our curbside service. We'll be opening those lobbies soon, we're just asking for a little more patience as we get the final few pieces in place to make it safe. We want to make sure we're taking every possible precaution and getting our team trained on any new procedures. With all of the recommendations out there, it has been a lot to sort through. You've probably scrolled through our reviews and can see that a few people are looking for Saturday hours, so we've said a lot of that subject already. The nutshell version of all of it is that we've worked hard to make everything you'd want to do available to you anytime, day or night, from wherever you are. We know there are just a couple of things you still need to do in the branch, which is why we open early and close late during the week. If you're off on a Saturday, we want you to be enjoying your life, not running errands. We're really, truly open to your feedback and we want you to feel heard and understood. If there is something you need to accomplish and you don't know how you'd do it without coming into our lobby, please give our member service team a call and let them help you. If they can't tell you a way to get that done without coming in, they'll be happy to work with you on your best next option.

A couple of months ago I had my purse stolen. My husband and I went to Simplicity to get our savings and checking accounts closed and then reopened with new account numbers. The people at this credit union were very understanding and helpful. We have never had a bad experience at Simplicity.

      Response from the owner

Thanks for stopping by to leave that great review, DeeDee! It's a shame that you had to go through the hassle and stress of having your purse stolen, but we're happy to hear that our team helped make it easy to bounce back :)

Went to ask for a small 1000 loan months after paying 1500 loan and was refused for honestly no good reason. Central City was way better and more personal. Also was told I can replace a bank card on site over the phone then was turned down when I arrived. I had to call management to get my card issued to me. Not a happy customer

      Response from the owner

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, Samantha. We know it's been some time since you left this and we're sorry we didn't respond sooner. It really is important to us to make sure you feel heard and we didn't want to miss the chance to do that. We never want someone to leave wondering why we couldn't help them the way they expected. Sure, there are some things we can't do and we know you understand that, but if we truly couldn't help you and we didn't take enough time to make sure you knew why, that's a place we can improve. It's not fun to get a review like this, but it's a great way for us to grow and we appreciate you, Samantha.

Simplicity runs a program where kids can make deposits (into their own account)at their school. We were planning to open accounts for two of our children (we had been told to just stop in), but were disappointed when we were turned away because we didn't have an appointment. I could understand that if they were busy, however there were many employees in sight and only one customer. The experience didnt live up to the name "simplicity" and we're now not sure it's worth it to go back.

      Response from the owner

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, Katie. We really regret that your experience with us left you frustrated. At most times we have the right people with the right expertise available on the frontline to help people with new accounts right away when they walk in, which is likely why someone encouraged you to do just that. Unfortunately in some cases, though, while we may have plenty of staff to help with transactions in the teller area, our new account experts are all assisting other members and we have to ask someone to wait or make an appointment for later. This is an area we continue to work on so that we can be sure we are making good use of our member's money by not over staffing and still having adequate staff to get the job done. We would very much appreciate another chance to help you and have your kids be able to enjoy the use of our Nasonville branch.

Horrible customer service. Need 50 forms of ID to access savings/ checking balances over the phone! With central city it was the last four of your social, name, and b-day. Now they ask for a lot of personal info over the phone...and the phone receptionists talk like robots...like they are reading scripts..very unhumanistic. $5 fee for transfer of savings to checking...how's that for service! Time for a new bank.

      Response from the owner

Thank you for offering your feedback and we're sorry to hear that our service isn't meeting your expectations. When you call us, the additional information you're being asked for is meant to provide extra security, not to be an inconvenience to you. If you have basic account questions or want to make a transfer, we have other options that might fit you better like phone banking, online, and mobile banking and a member of our team would be more than happy to help you find the one that works best. Feel free to stop in to any location or send us a message at https://www.simplicity.coop/contact-us so someone can reach out to you.

I was in contact with Derek Freis for a loan, at the end of the day he ignore my emails and no longer contact me to find out more options. Supposedly He would help me fill out the application for the PPP program, that never happened. A total waste of time, and lack of professionalism

      Response from the owner

Thank you for your honesty, Iliana. We're very sorry that you had that experience. We know that Derek and his team have been working really hard to make the PPP program work for as many people as possible, so we'll let him know how you're feeling and work to earn back your trust.

If I could give 0 stars I would. They have terrible hours for customers, ever since it became simplicity the customer service has gone way down. I have had an account at this location for 20+ years and am switching everything over to a new bank.

      Response from the owner

Thank you for your honesty Mike. We don't love to hear we've let someone down, but it helps us do better. If there's anything we can do to win back your trust, we're here for it, and we'll always be here for you if you need us.

When we took out a mortgage to cover some expenses of home repairs, Angela was able to do almost everything through text and secure email documents. All we had to do was come in and sign paperwork for about 20 minutes! East peasy!

      Response from the owner

Thanks for the great review Elizabeth! That's just how we like it: Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy!
