ACE Cash Express S I-35 Frontage Rd, Round Rock

I went in to cash my check on a Saturday as I hadnt set up direct deposit with my bank and didnt have time to take my check to my bank before they closed. This was my first time using a check cashing place. Candy was the person who assisted me during my visit. She set up the little prepaid debit card without asking me if I wanted it and informed me that she was loading $10 of my check on it. I told her I didnt need that card as I have a checking account and asked if I had to have it, she replied with yes. She then said I could use my $10 and be done with it. This was the temporary card and asked me to pick the real card out from the pictures on the left of the window (little sticker displayed the card color options) I hesitated, but picked one out as it was dumb because I wasnt going t use it. I didnt feel like going back and fourth with her and needed to be on my way so I took the card. Should have stood my ground and refused it and cashed my check else where. Anyway when I went to use my card for gas I chose debit and only was able to pump $8. I then called the card and was told by the automated system to check my balance via phone it charged .50 cents...which pissed me off even more, only to find out that when I used my card at the pump I was charged $2.00. If this was ging to be a card I used it was now negitive .50 cents. Extremely pissed at this point I went back to this loaction and asked who the manger was the guy of course points to her (Candy) so I ask him for the person above her. Long story short...she speaks to him in spanish (sure she thought I didnt understand) asking him what the problem was. He doesnt know because he didnt ask. She then asks me "did I do something wrong" I explained to her that when I cashed my check and she set up the debit card without asking me I told her I did not need this prepaid debit card and she made me take it..of course she replies with a attitude, smirks and repeats I made you take it?..me, yes you did. Then she says no ma'am I didnt make you. I then told her to stop arguing with me (it was turning into a back and fourth match). She if course says shes not arguing. I remind her that I am a paying customer. She turns back to her customer after and says nothing else. Then when her coworker starts to write down the district managers name and number she pulls $10 bucks out of her register and literally tosses it on his work area and says just give it back to her. He slides it under with out the number to her boss. I push it back and say its not about the money its the fact that you forced the card on me to meet your quota when I told you I didnt want it. In the end I paid $10 to cash my check with them, $2 to use a card that was forced on me, and recieved HORRIBLE customer service. I will be calling her boss, but honestly im sure nothing will come of it. This is why I made sure to post my experience because as a office manager I know reviews matter. Candy fyi as a manager even if you think you are 100% correct with a upset customer your job is to keep customers and avoid bad reviews. You failed at both in addition you are doing bad buisness and there is no way im the first person youve done this to but Im not ok with being messed with when it comes to money. I would avoid this location, in addition I wouldnt use places like this. Sorry for the long read.

Cashiers are friendly and knowledgeable. Transactions are professional and they provide courtesy calls prior to repayment.

Wanted to cash a check for 10k and they wanted to charge me $650 !! I said I will check speedy check cashing they said "they won't even cash it there". Well speedy did cash it and for $207!! Saved me $450 I will never go back to ace !!

They take advantage of people already in a difficult situation. Stay away from stores like these and their extremely high interest rates. They also charge 10% to cash a check. Don't put yourself through that. This is not a good moral business
