The check was received around December 13th at which time I asked a rep if the gap coverage will pay off the remaining balance. The rep informed me that a claim would be filed. Called today, December 28th, to check the claim status, was giving the number to contact that company who provides the gap coverage. Spoke with a rep there, come to find out, First Investor never filed the gap claim like they said. Of course I’m responsible for the loan regardless but if there’s gap coverage that I qualify for then it should be applied and not me paying out of pocket when I don’t have to. First Investor needs to stop misleading their customers!”
