Hello and thank you for your review....I am glad to see that we earned 4 Stars, but we want 5-Stars!!!! To answer your question, there are many requirements by law that we need to adhere to as a pawnshop. One of these laws is call the Military Lending Act. It insures that our service people get a lower rate on their transactions. To accommodate that law, we must track their SSN through the Military Database to confirm or deny their rate. It falls on us to do this by law. A second law is the Patriot Act, since 9/11 we have been required to complete that Act by collecting SSN in case you, the customer, decides to enact a Terrorist act, then we are to report to the government, where and how you received funds to commit that act. We are under 23 different laws and requirements for the government, including, but not limited to, downloading descriptions and pictures of EVERY item that we touch or take in, pictures and video of each transactions, filing and storing of all data. These are just some of our requirements to keep everyone above board on all transactions as well as safe and secure that every transaction is clean. I can not speak for other stores, but we at Windy City, ALWAYS follow the rules and laws of the State that we operate in, including taking SSN, on a closed system so that we can not be hacked, our system is not online. If others do not want to follow those rule and regulations, you should ask yourself why they don't and perhaps consider whether you want to do business at those businesses. After watching the video and audio of you transaction in our store, I can only say I am sorry that your experience here was less than you expected. Having said that, I need to clarify a couple of things… The TV that you originally requested a $1000 loan on, was made in April of 2011- an 11-YEAR-OLD 60” LCD television with NO REMOTE, NO LEG STANDS, and it was a NON-SMART TV. The used retail value of this old LCD television is $199. Obviously, we cannot loan you what was a negotiated value of $300 on a $200 TV. The employee tried to explain this to you, as did the manager, and you decided to get aggravated, and not do the transaction of selling your 11-year-old TV. YOU also decided to not buy the 2 silver 1-ounce coins for a price of $24.95 each, which you have always claim that you resell our coins to make money, which had nothing to do with the TV. It is interesting to me that you claim that our prices are too high, but you have never had a problem continually buying from us when there are other more expensive options out here. (WE SELL OUR SILVER BASED ON THE CURRENT SPOT PRICE, JUST OVER SCRAP!) You have even called us and asked for help in trying to resell the coins to someone else and we assisted you over the phone. Again, trying to have great customer service! Again, our only concern is for exceptional customer service, every time, with every customer, which we tried to provide you. I am very sorry that you received less than perfect service when you were at our location. Patrick, I am very sorry that you had a less than expected, experience at one of our stores. I have done some research on this matter and I want to explain that customer service is our number one priority and although that employee had to leave the store for a real emergency situation, we want you to feel that your time is important and valuable to us.
