If you apply with Tyndall, there is a litany of restrictions under which you can be "accepted" as a member. More critically, the disclosure that you must agree to even before you may continue the application process contains the statement that a credit report will be pulled for each person applying as a member. As prudent people, we would believe a credit report would be among the final actions taken before granting membership and yet it precedes the remainder of information necessary. Also understand fully that this is not a typical soft inquiry, wherein verification of identity and general credit worthiness is established, but rather a full hard inquiry in the very same regard as if applying for credit at any establishment. What it actually constitutes as part of the lengthy application process is determining whether you constitute a target for solicitation of their credit services such as mortgage, auto and other loan services. I have been a member of 2 federal credit unions for more than 10 years now and never once during the application process was I confronted with a disclaimer that must be signed and agreed to wherein a hard credit report was established as part of the application process to deposit, not borrow, money and to open a simple checking account. Tyndall Federal Credit Union's disclaimer intentionally does not clarify whether the credit inquiry is a soft inquiry or full hard credit report. The difference is that a full hard inquiry is established on the credit report and in this case incorrectly reflects that you have applied and are seeking acceptance of loan applications, not the mere opening of a personal checking account to deposit money. Such inappropriate actions by Tyndall Federal Credit Union can affect your credit score. In my opinion, Tyndall is using the hard inquiry credit information as an unsolicited and intentional measure in order to peddle loan and other credit union services in all instances where your credit worthiness meets their criteria. I find it entirely invasive and well beyond what is necessary and sufficient to merely open a checking and savings account. This practice is not what is considered as a means to invite potential customers or members, but nothing more than a portal to investigate the background of those who apply. Realize that Tyndall is performing this full hard credit inquiry without having to accept you as a member. It is a preliminary process, not a process performed in conclusion. ******************************* Addendum- I edited this review to demonstrate a premise that has become all too prevalent on the Internet. Whenever someone receives a negative review, it is very promptly responded to by members of the organization under scrutiny. In this case, Tyndall Federal Credit Union is quick to make a point that pulling a hard credit report for mere membership was an "error" made by their new credit bureau partner and I was thanked for pointing it out because they stated complete unawareness to the fact. But you see Tyndall personnel are the ones who receive the credit reports being generated by their "new partner" and so if a hard report is pulled and provided to Tyndall, they would instantly realize that an error had been made. A soft credit inquiry is entirely different than a hard credit report and yet Tyndall claims total unawareness to the fact until I mentioned it in my review. Tyndall Federal Credit Union knew full well that they were receiving and inspecting hard credit reports instead of soft inquiries. Their rebuttal is simply plausible denial. It's how institutions respond these days when exposure occurs. It was a "mistake" made by their new partner, not Tyndall but they accepted the report without consent or contacting me. They advertise how vigilant they are in protecting their customers' assets from the criminal elements. Tyndall can't even protect their customers from their new partner's illegal overreach. How can they even begin to protect anyone's assets? Tyndall has since removed their response and admission of error from your view.

Awesome bank. Awesome experience. The staff are very professional and courteous. Tiffany is so nice she is a good listener, and she has really helped my wife out a lot. Tiffany you truly are an asset to Tyndall. I personally think you should run the Chipley and Marianna branch.

My account is very new but so far I am not impressed. I should have known when there were problems from the very beginning while opening my account. Do not use the mobile deposit, they will hold your money for a week. They say 5 days, but they mean 5 business days, so you'll wait through the weekend too. The problems keep adding up. I'm trying to be understanding and I will wait out my 30 day probationary (new account) period, to see if things get better.

      Response from the owner

Hi Ms. Pennington, We are so sorry to hear that you haven't had the best experience so far. We would like to have someone reach out to you to discuss the issues and see how we can help.

This bank lost a new customer today because the inside is still closed due to this covid mess. I found somewhere to take my money that is open inside. My suggestion for Tyndall FCU make it easier for people to start new accounts or take out loans by opening up.

Very friendly and fast staff. Walked in, requested money from my account and then requested a print out of IRA interest earned from them. Not nearly as big as Panama's T.F.C.U. Office's but truly more friendly & relaxed atmosphere. Still hopeful for a branch in DeFuniak Springs, Fl one day.

      Response from the owner

Thank you so much for the kind review, Patricia!

It’s right before Christmas and they hit a dear Friend of mine with $200 worth of fee’s. It would be one thing if she was irresponsible, but that was not the case. They did not properly educate her on their horrific fee’s. She switched from a main stream banking institution due to their 10$ a month fee’s and to support a local credit union. That was the worst mistake she could have made. Right before Christmas 3 small children, and they would not work with her. I myself have always appreciated credit unions, however this has placed a disgusting taste in my mouth. I am truly appalled.
