I noticed that all the previous reviews were positive. That is because this store used to be under management that was polite and professional. They exhibited a high level of intergrity. You could count on them to tell you the truth. Yesterday I rode with a friend to this location. He went inside to make a payment. He wanted to make the payment over the telephone, but the General Manager named Tim Steelman told him that he needed to come to the office in person. My friend asked why he needed to come to the office to make the payment. Mr. Steelman told him that he needed to meet face to face in order to work with him in getting his account in better standing. He told him this meeting had to happen. There was no way around it. Apparently, my friend was late on his payments. His account was 21 days past due at this point (Does not seem terribly excessive to me) My friend arrived to make the payment and have this all important “discussion”. Well, at this time Mr. Steelman said he was required to come in because the location is no longer accepting his payments over the phone. His payment is so late that he is now required to come into the office and make the payments. My friend was confused and wanted to know why he was told a different story over the telephone. He felt like he was lied to or at least misled. When Mr. Steelman was confronted with his untruthfullness he became very angry. I wish my friend would have left the location immediately at this point for his own safety, but he did not want to leave without making his payment. Mr. Steelman escalated the situation and told him that he would not accept a payment; instead his entire balance is due immediately. He told my friend to pay the entire balance in full today or his car would be repossessed. My friend told him that he would not be able to pay the entire loan balance today so he saw no other option but to surrender his vehicle. My friend got up and tried to leave at this point, but Mr. Steelman called him an a**hole. My friend was dumbfounded. He was so surprised by the lack of professionalism that he stumbled and dropped his drink on the floor. Mr. Steelman then called my friend a d**k. My friend turned around, got into his car with me and attempted to drive away, but Mr. Steelman was not done. He picked up a rock and threw it at our car as we attempted to drive away. Obviously, this is outlandishly rude behavior, possibly illegal, but the bigger issue is how Mr. Steelman thinks that it is ok to treat anyone this way. No one would be treated this way if they went to bank, mortgage company, etc, but its sad that Mr. Steelman is comfortable treating customers who are not the “Gold Standard” from a credit or financial perspective this way. I would STRONGLY encourage you not to visit this particular location. You may not have the best credit score. You may have missed some payments in the past. You may be in less than perfect financial health because of divorce, a medical emergency or job loss, but you STILL deserve much, much better than this. Trust me.
