Since the name change (twice since Charter Bank) I have experienced errors, issues, and a lack of professionalism I've never seen before and I was there for the Wachovia to Wells Fargo devolution. The app has never worked, not once. You will get handed off if you are able to get someone on the phone. If they make a mistake, they will not tell you what that error was, only that they regret it happening. If someone bought this bank for parts or something, I wish they would let the account holders know.Response from the owner

I open my account when it was charterbank. and then I went abroad for working. I called the customer center yesterday they said it's changed to Southstate bank from Centerstate bank. so in couple years they changed the name of the bank 3 times. and another thing is, I am a business man. I travel alot. everytime i go to different countries my card stop working because i didn't let them know that I will be in different place using my card. I am definitely closing my account when I go back to the states.Response from the owner

CenterState is really disappointing in every aspect. If you need to use mobile banking be prepared to have to call and have your password reset EVERY time even if you just logged in 30 minutes before and also be prepared for the customer service agents ( not at the local branch , but the after hours corporate ones) to hang up on you if they bother to answer at all.Response from the owner

Nothing but problems since they bought out CharterBank. I’m currently in the midst of disputing charges that occurred when my teenager’s card was compromised. A week later and the dispute STILL hasn’t been handled and the responsibility of doing all the run-around has fallen on ME, the customer. The fraud was reported and instead of handling it and refunding the charges (as previous disputes were handled with CharterBank), the CSR has overcomplicated the MESS out of what should have been a straightforward dispute! I’m currently meeting with other banks to see where we can move our business and personal accounts. Sad that this takeover has destroyed the integrity of the bank we were with for nearly 15 years.
Always a pleasure to deal with. I have used CenterState for both personal and business purposes during the past few years. The Auburn branch is particularly helpful, and has the feel of a community bank. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a bank that offers great hours of operation!Response from the owner
Glen, thank you for sharing your experience. We appreciate you!
I'm very disappointed in what this bank turned into. Centerstate has ruined the amazing buisiness that was Charter. Setting aside the nightmare that was the transition, it now seems like everything good that Charter had is gone. 1. The app is like dealing with dial-up and you have to log back in if you hit the back button. 2. Direct deposits take too long to clear. 3. Transfers from/to your own accounts have to be scheduled if its after 10 p.m. ( and as of a day later it still hasn't cleared) Edited from 2 stars to 1. All transactions take too long to clear and nothing has gotten better.
Just went to cash a personal check and I didn’t even get a greeting! They didn’t even ask me any information or if I had an account or if I had any interest in depositing. They simply took the check, cashed it, and sent the money back through the slot. Not even a thank you or anything. Dead silence. This on top of all the other horrible displays of customer service I let slide. Totally reconsidered my business with them. Courtesy counts! Especially when it’s MY money!Response from the owner

I’ve never called a business to ask a question that didn’t end with me thanking the business for their help. However, Center state has been the first exception. Zero effort in helping to find an answer to my question or a solution to the issue. I just couldn’t bring myself to say “thank you” for nothing. I’ve had plenty of issues with this bank before, but this was the first that had me absolutely dumbfounded.Response from the owner

I know it was a tough transition going from charter bank to centerstate but the employees at this branch have always treated me well and been extremely responsive to any questions I ask. If you’re reading this review looking for a bank, I encourage you to give them a try based on customer service alone.Response from the owner
