We are first time homeowners and had a frustrating, negative experience with Celebrity Title. I do not recommend this closing company. While the closing experience was pleasant overall, the problem awaited us a few months after closing when we found out our property taxes had not been sent to the MUD. A staff member had processed our taxes wrong and we had to find out with delinquent tax notices. DO NOT confuse the staff’s confidence and customer service training for competence or efficiency. Make sure they process your payments appropriately to avoid the same headache (migraine really..). Or choose another title company that takes ownership AND promptly follows up on their word. They promised to fix the problem and take on the accrued interest penalties with such “ownership” that we thought it was handled. We were shocked that another delinquent notice came and found that nothing had been done. FINALLY when I informed them we got a threat from our mortgage company (telling us a forced escrow account, increased monthly mortgage payments and other penalties would be enforced) that they took it seriously and started to take action. Messing with our family’s and others financial situation is no light matter. I contacted the staff multiple times and the check was finally cut on the very last possible day to do so....and I had to call them to make sure it happened. I am not certain it would have been processed if I hadn’t kept checking in. No one kept me updated until I called. The whole saga lasted almost three months. They need to be held accountable and need to follow up on their word. Why would you close with a company you can’t trust to do their role and make good on their word? I recommend you take your business elsewhere.
