This bank has changed so much in the last few years from being personal to being big box type bank. It's sad, it used to be such a great bank and I was proud to have them by my side. Now I need to try and transfer all my business and accounts elsewhere after being here for over 10 years.

MCCU is one of the worst banks in existence. I called twice and both people that answered couldn't help me dispute charges that I did not make, and they couldn't even connect me to someone who could actually help. I had to call the same number a third time and finally connected with someone who could help. Apparently Billpay fees are NOT handled by MCCU, but instead by a separate company. I shouldn't have had to jump through all these hoops to dispute these fees when MCCU is the cause of the problem. The customer service is terrible, and you can tell that they talk to you with attitude. I am grateful that I've been using a different big bank in which I've never had problems like I've had with MCCU.

Went to the ATM to withdraw some funds. The ATM didn't work. If it was out of funds it didn't let you know. Tried to transfer funds and found out that you couldn't transfer funds after the business day ended. Later that got fixed. Nothing seems to work at this place. And some of the people you talk to are so rude.

I was referred here for a mortgage loan, however my experience wasn't anywhere near what I heard. The LO that was "working" with me ignored me after denying my application. I was fine with the outcome but had some follow-up questions that would have been helpful on what to do next in order to obtain a loan. A few weeks later and NO thanks to the LO I was able to qualify for a loan from another lender, we will be closing in August. Take your business somewhere else, go to a lender that will actually value you as a customer. DO NOT RECOMMEND

I have been banking with members since 2017. Just like with all other banks there are good and bad things about it. Personally I have had all good experiences but one person that no longer works for the company. Within months after opening an account I was able to get a loan for my SUV and a month later got a personal loan. Stephanie is a great manager. She treats you like a person not a number. If I have had any issues with the tellers or loan officers, she would address the issue with professionalism. All the tellers there now are very polite. Just keep in mind the the tellers are human not robots. They have feelings and go through situations that affect there moods from day to day. Like rude members not getting what they want and take it out on them. Then in turn take it out on you. Deal with it. Like I said HUMAN NOT ROBOTS. Want a robot go to Wells Fargo or US Bank. I’ve banked with both, that’s what I got, that’s why I made the which to Members Cooperative Credit Union. They have done nothing but try to make sure I have had a great experience with them.

I have always payed my car loans on time and they are saying I didn’t pay November but they just told me about it now and I never received a receipt for it. That was $360 that disappeared. And I was just in to talk to the manager and never got the chance. I am so mad

I went in the Cloquet branch to open a checking account today at 4:40 pm. No other customer was in the credit union. The published closing hour is 5:30. We were told no one could help us as the customer service who help with checking close at 5. They asked us to come back tomorrow. We left. I then received a text message thanking me for opening a checking account. Obviously an automated response without even knowing an account wasn't opened. We will be taking our business across the street. told

      Response from the owner

Hello Lori, we apologize for your experience at one of our branches. We’d like to learn more about the situation and would appreciate it if you would contact us at 218-625-8500.

It sure would be nice to have a direct phone number for each branch, and to have an actual person answer the phone. Even Wells Fargo does this! I'm second guessing my decision to leave the big bank and support a "local" bank. Sure the people are nice once you can get ahold of them but half the time you end up getting connected to someone at another branch.

      Response from the owner

Hello Joe, We sincerely apologize for your frustration. We pride ourselves on providing great member service and we are disappointed to learn that you had anything less than a stellar experience with us, and are very sorry to hear we've disappointed you. Your feedback is very important for us to continue to improve our services, and will forward your feedback to the appropriate parties. Thank you, MCCU

Unfortunately, there isn't a rating low enough to apply to this institution. The people are rude, unwilling to admit they made a mistake, have charged us with numerous unwarranted overdrafts over the years and recently two overdrafts when an outside business with which we did not do business, "accidentally" withdrew a large amount from our account instead of the correct account. When I brought this to the attention of the credit union, I was told they could only refund one of the overdrafts in spite of the fact that the entire transaction was a mistake on the part of an outside business. The clerk who dealt with this mistaken withdrawal was extremely rude, condescending and constantly interrupted every sentence I attempted to utter. I wanted to speak with Stephanie, the manager, and expressed this to this particular clerk. I told her that I wanted her to tell Stephanie.....at which point she interrupted me and said, "I don't TELL my boss anything" which indicates a sad lack of communication on the part of these employees if they cannot speak freely about members' needs with other employees. Why the intimidation? This clerk also accused me of being rude, to which I replied that I was not being rude simply by requesting a correction of the credit union's mistake. My husband and I have been members for many years and have witnessed the deterioration of this credit union, especially since they moved to their new location. We have removed our business from this rude, incompetent and dishonest institution and advise anyone looking for a decent, honest banking experience to steer clear of this place. During a recent deposit a few weeks ago, I noticed that the clerk had made an error in the amount I had deposited, shorting me by $10.00 I went back and pointed out the error to the manager who argued that the clerk was correct. I asked to speak directly to the clerk but was told that the day I made the deposit was her last day. That particular clerk also had told her manager that she thought the money I was depositing was "play" or "fake". Who trains these people? The clerk also admired the coins which were silver dollars and other specialty coins minted several years ago to resemble quarters although they were dollar coins. The clerk and I counted the coins together and agreed on the correct total. Apparently, she made a mistake and entered the incorrect total. When I asked the credit union for verification, I was told that a camera recorded all transactions. I asked to see the film but was told "Oh, we can't invade the other customers' privacy". Since I was the only person near the counter at the time, there were no other customers whose privacy would have been invaded. Does this "privacy" not extend to a member who has been cheated and has the right to be shown proof? We have notified the Better Business Bureau, the Attorney General and the Consumer Protection Agency.

      Response from the owner
