I applied for a small personal loan on my Member One app. I was approved quickly and had my money in my account in no time. I didn't even have to leave my house. Everything was done on my phone from start to finish. Will definitely keep my business here from now on

      Response from the owner

Be aware! It is the policy of this credit union to allow any owner of an account close the account without the other owner’s knowledge. This happened to me. The other owner closed the account taking every dollar out of it. The bank account justified the allowance of these actions stating that any owner can make adjustments or close the account without the knowledge of any other owner of the same account. Tread carefully with this financial institution!

      Response from the owner

Hi Dawn. We appreciate your feedback. We are forwarding your comments to our Experience team to research further. If you would, please email [email protected] directly with your full name and contact information. Thank you.

I went to Member One four years ago. I was told it was the bank I needed to be with by several people. I have now brought two of grown children there for accounts. I got a credit card with them when I opened my account and about 2 years ago a small no collateral loan with them. I was happy with everything until about a month ago. I paid off the small loan early in almost half the time it was initially for with 100 % on time payments. I also made 100 % on time payments on the credit card I got when I opened the account four years ago. I was given one credit increase automatically and a second was offered and I accepted. My credit score dipped during the last year due to a change in jobs and I relied on my credit cards to see me through until the money started coming in. Member one decided that even with four years of on time payments and bringing two more customers in and paying off a loan early with on time payments that my credit score was too low for the credit card. So they closed the account. Which was my second oldest on my credit report. So that in turn hurt my score even more. I was planning on going to these people for a mortgage very soon. This has probably changed my mind. UPDATE: Member One contacted me after seeing this review and offered a chance at another credit card of different interest rate. I declined. He was professional and apologized. Blame was placed on federal regulations. I will add a star for the effort.

      Response from the owner

Charges showed on my account on PayPal that I never used. I almost never used the account for purchases, I mainly used it to pay a loan payment. I called and they issued me a new card. The charges showed up again and I realized that the charges was coming through my checking routing number not my debit card #. They changed the wrong account and now won't take it off my account. Even hit my credit for it even after I've called several times. Told me the charges have been on the account too long to be corrected. If the problem was fixed the first time it would of been taken care of. I liked Member One when it was a small credit union at the N&W building The customer service is not the same. I wouldn't recommend Member One to anyone. The loan officer that was at Member One has switched jobs to Freedom First and convinced me to go there. They are awesome.

      Response from the owner

I will never deal with Member One again. In December 2016, we purchased a brand new vehicle with Member One as the lender. Member One financed a car for my husband some 13 years ago as well so instead of using the current address that was on all of the paperwork and our driver's licenses, they somehow linked my husband's old address to the account instead. We have made monthly payments for 2 1/2 years without an issue until I came home one day to a certified letter on our front door (so they DID have our address after all!?). Apparently, they had been asking for insurance verification by mail to the old address for TWO AND A HALF YEARS. Clearly they had our new address to send us a certified letter finally in June of 2018?? I don't know who dropped the ball on verifying the insurance - either First Team Auto Mall, State Farm, or Member One. But Member One definitely dropped the ball on sending notices to a PO box where my husband hasn't lived in more than 6 years. This problem has taken numerous phone calls to work out, right in the midst of buying a new house Member One erroneously reported to our credit that our last two payments were made more than 30 days late (because of the insurance they purchased on our behalf..the payments weren't actually late).. Now we have to fill out paperwork because of something Member One messed up in the first place and delay listing our house for sale and purchasing a new house until it gets fixed UNLESS we want to spend the equity we earn to put down on a new house with a different type of mortgage. Instead, we're going to wait until Member One finally fixes the problems they created and use the equity we profit to just pay them off and be done with them completely. Even after all of these issues, they sent out a letter last week to the old address - after being told at least six times... Steer clear...Member One is incompetent.

The policies of this bank make absolutely no sense to me. Why would it take 10 business days for funds to be made available to the member after the check is deposited, with NO WAY of expediting it? I was told that once the decision has been made to hold a check, they absolutely cannot lift that hold. Even if they have a hard copy check in their possession. I could have easily gone just about anywhere to cash said check, and I'd have my funds in hand immediately. Member One customer service is awful, and their policies are ridiculous. I will be closing my account with them as soon as possible, and I recommend anyone else reading this to bank elsewhere.

I used to think Member One was the best HOwever a recent issue has me changing my mind about using another credit union. I had a check from my sister from Sprint. I cashed it for her, she made it payable to me and I in turn tried to deposit it via the mobile app. it was rejected. When I called up, they said they have a policy not to cash 3rd party checks. First, I did not know that policy, second, my account more than covered it, third, so far I am out this money. I guess they do not value customers and I will have to do two things change credit unions which is easy and secondly, contact the Board, NCUA and any regulatory agency I have too. If a supervisor just honored it this time and told me going forward that would be okay but as of this writing it has been nothing but disconnected phone calls and now we are waiting for a supervisor to call back, whose name I have. If this is not solved I guess action will be needed. If they cannot service members in this kind of issue what good are they?
