John M Duran5Best local Credit Union I've found with the highest interest rates on Checking, Savings, & Money Market accounts. Their loan rates look very reasonable as well. So happy to be banking local in El Prado, and keeping my money in the community!

Georgiana Martinez Montoya1My sister had a checking and savings account at GCU for years. She and I went in in July, 2020 to add me to her accounts because my sister was dying of cancer. She did pass in August and I am her personal representative/executor of her estate. The staff has been very helpful with most transactions I have had to do on her behalf. I recently closed both accounts last Tuesday, the 27th of May with all of my duties executed on her behalf. I received a check from her insurance company, State Farm in for a small amount of $53.83 that I was not expecting. When I went in today to try to cash the check I was told it couldn't be done there. I would have to open an account again to be able to deposit it. I am a local person who has lived here all my 59 years and work for the federal government. I am not an out of towner trying to cheat GCU out of $53.83. GCU has all the documentation it needs to verify my identity including my sister's death certificate, an official form the Taos County Probate Judge issued to me in regards to my duties as personal/representative/executor. I was very disappointed with this failed transaction. I will continue to do my banking business with Centinel Bank in which my husband and I have 3 checking accounts and one savngs account as well as one checking and savings accounts at Nusenda. Every time I would attempt to contact GCU by phone, the phone was never answered. I had left a message for a call back, and was never called.
Response from the ownerThank you for bringing this to our attention, Georgiana. We apologize for the inconvenience. If you would like to discuss further, please contact Antoinette Olivas, Branch Operations Manager, at 505-216-0500 or [email protected].

Angela Raines1I've been calling for over an hour and nobody's picking up. Maybe if I leave a review here someone will share an alternate number? I called the number for the operations manager listed in the response to yet another review saying they don't pick up their phones and ... wait for it... she didn't pick up, either.
