Avoid. We have multiple accounts, a mortgage, and a HELOC with them. Multiple mistakes were made which we caught but would have cost us thousands. Calling them requires waiting on hold for an hour or more (repeat multiple times to get anything done). Their banking portal is terrible. The big banks will #1 give you just as good of a mortgage rate, #2 pick up when you call, and #3 provide a proper banking web experience. ::Update:: went in today to redeem some Treasury bonds. Stood in a long line for the single teller only to find out that they won't do that anymore. Frustrating bank.

Depositing checks into other people's accounts, long hold times on deposits, long transfer times between banks, etc. I would not recommend banking at First Tech. I would also suggest that you vet your tellers more thoroughly as well.

He can't even call me after 4 voicemails and emails. Hope things get better man. I Still love FTFCU. Well, no card, no call from Daniel and 1 star service now as of 6-24-21. I even email him again 3 more times, why? hmm? oh well, need my card sometime.. Well, moving on the new GM Jason has 5 stars and Chrisleena, 5 more stars, thank you again

I am saddened to have to rate this location a 1-star when it used to be my most favorite branch. I don’t come visit often, but the staff has always been friendly and efficient. Today, with the new branch manager, I had an unpleasant visit after a long period of time. I came in to have a new debit card printed because the card that was ordered 3 weeks ago never arrived in the mail. I had just landed back in Portland so I needed to pick up a vehicle with my personal card and my only option was to come into the branch (since my card never arrived) I had called prior to coming in with the back office on scheduling me in and they said they would do what they could. As I arrived while still on the phone, the branch manager greeted me at the podium and said to me that it would be a 30-45 minute wait. I said I have to grab the vehicle by 5PM so I needed to have the card printed. I then proceeded to sit down in the lobby. As I was sitting there, I spoke to another member who was waiting, explained to her my situation, and she said it was ok with her to allow me to go first. I then thanked her and went to the podium to tell the manager that Jessica, the kind lady who allowed me to go first, said it was ok with her. He pushed back on me to tell me, “you cannot do that. You have to honor other members’ times just like I am honoring your time”. I said, “sir, I asked her to switch with me and she said it was fine so I am honoring her time”. He proceeded to the rhetoric that “other members have appointments from prior days and others have been waiting for 20 minutes. I cannot have you speaking to other members like that”. I understood what he was saying about honoring time, but I only asked to switch spots with one member, and like I said, I honored her time by asking her if she would kindly switch and she gladly did. I couldn’t thank the member enough, but the branch manager had no right to tell me what I can and cannot do. If another member is willingly going to switch with me, then it is her choice, not a branch manager’s right to tell me OR her what she decides to do with her spot in line. This is is one the reasons why I moved all my assets to Chase and other banks instead, even though I have been a member since 2010. No branch manager or any individual can tell another person what they can and cannot do. He said he’d honor it this time, but not next time. Aside from that,

I opened an account here because I wanted better credit. I thought this would make life easier. I had a good standing account with First Tech for 3 years. I improved my credit score over 250 points while with this credit union, with a constant promise with each thing I fixed that I would be able to get a prepaid credit card. Each time I applied, I was denied, and all those inquiries are now on my credit. The associates would tell me that if I fixed whatever debt that I would ne able to get a card. So I kept fixing debts in hope of a card because I need to build credit since I wish to buy a house. I came in for advice and talked about how to make this happen several times. Nothing they said would work ever got me the card I wanted. I fixed my credit with no help from the credit union besides paying the debts I already knew I had thanks to Experian. So I had to move recently. I moved to Washington and as far as I knew, had an account with First Tech. I just received a forwarded mail that says they charged off my account and it is negative $96, and that they already sent it to collections without me even knowing! I had worked hard the last 5 years building my credit. I paid off over $10,000 worth of stuff and disputed a couple items and brought my score from 91 to 659. Now the place that I started an account at to build my credit, with the promise from them that my credit would built, are threatening to damage my credit and hard work. I never charged off my account and still have direct deposits going into it, and nothing has come out of it for a couple months. So why is this company doing this? I have told many of my friends now to never get an account here. I also was promised a $50 bonus at the beginning for my friend recommending me to get an account. I was supoos ed d to get it after 90 days, and never got it. I brought it up and they just claimed that promotion ended, even though it was going when I start ed d the account and the associate told me I would get it. I have been with Wells Fargo now and they already gave me $100 bonus for debit card transactions and are trying to get me a credit card that is not even prepaid, which will help my credit score. Funny how they are better in 3 months than First Tech has been in 3 years. Don't start an account here, go with someone who can keep their word. Also, banking here is so slow. Wells Fargo I haven't had to wait more than 2 minutes. Sometimes First Tech took up to 40 minutes to help me. The better choice is obvious.

      Response from the owner

Great customer service with active listening & empathy! Times are tough right now, stresses are high and people are on-edge. I was greeted and helped immediately while standing outside (social distancing). They listened to my problem, offered support, reassured me and even followed-up. Thank you!

I did a walk in inquiry once before at a different branch. The staff at both branches were friendly and attentive. I had almost no wait time anytime I arrived. I recently left my former bank because they couldn't get my accounts straight and kept charging me fees. I'm very happy with the account packages and options they have available and I am able to transfer current debt to their lower interest rates (some less than half the interest than what I was paying before)

Car title hasn’t arrived after paying off the loan and is still missing, now we have to file a lost title in DMV and pay 93 dollars plus all hassle brought about this. They should at least send it via priority mail with tracking and not just regular mail. Updated 07/17 : they called me and offered to compensate the 93 dollars which is a good start. Changing to 3 stars for now.

      Response from the owner

Avelino, Thank you for taking my call and I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback on your recent experience. As I mentioned on the call, please reach out if there is anything further I can assist with. And we will surely take into advisement reviewing the process of mailing for better tracking. Hope you have a wonderful rest of your day!

Joke. This bank/branch sucks. I went for help and they turned their back on me. I wanted to consolidate my debt, because I actually NEEDED to. Being an unemployed veteran for 2 years did work on my credit. I have 2 things I could have used as collateral, that WELL exceed the debt I wanted to consolidate. One is a car, the other a Harley. Both paid for. Yet they didn't even ask about that stuff. I'll be removing all funds from this bank, and taking my business elsewhere. You could argue that this is normal, when it's not. Every other bank I went to to test my theory asked what I had as collateral. It was the first question after the obvious name, birthday, address questions. I'm surprised a company like Intel would partner with a bank like this.
