I bank with several banking institutions. I thought when I moved my loan from Navy Federal Credit Union it would be a good experience. It has not been. They charge you $8 to pay your loan over the phone. Unless you have an account with them, which you have to have a minimum balance on or you have to pay extra... They dont give you an online option. I attempted to set up direct pay from my other credit union but that was also a problem. Then they close at 4pm because for some reason that is logical. They are the most greedy credit union I have encountered and I would rate Bank of America and Wells Fargo WAY higher. That's saying something because I have never liked banks. Take your money and credit elsewhere. This credit union does not care about its members.

Let's start by saying that my wife and I have had an A+ experience since we started a banking relationship with Fairwinds Credit Union. Mr Sebastian Sanchez has been extremely knowledgeable, professional and helpful in helping us select the best products for our banking needs. Fairwinds Credit Union has terrific rates if you are in the market for a new car loan. Of course having excellent credit will insure you get the best rates. I have found that it is easiest to reach out to the bankers via email. I realize that they are extremely busy this time of year. So a little patience goes a long way. I am surprised by some of the negative reviews I have seen here. In our modern, rush-rush world, we all need to slow down a bit and make an effort to acknowledge and respect our fellow human beings. I wholeheartedly recommend Fairwinds Credit Union in Mt Dora.

I liked them at first, I've had them for about 4-5 years now! Let me start out by saying, I've been in banking for 10 years before leaving to work for local city in lake county. I have a checking, savings and traditional IRA with them. I wanted a credit union aside from my main banking institute, where most of my larger bills come out of..mortgage, student loan, life insurance, etc. I was told to have at least $100 deposit monthly to avoid charges when I switched to a different checking. That was OK, then it changed a few years later to having a $500 monthly balance ( mind you, I have savings and IRA with more than enough). That I swallowed, got charged $10 for about a year, because that was not my main account! Now I have more than that sitting in checking alone, I got charged last month again?!? I was told, now you have to have a $500 dollar DEPOSIT monthly?!!!!? These people are a JOKE! HOW DO YOU TAKE MONEY FROM FOLKS WITHOUT MONEY, WHEN CLEARLY I HAVE MONEY SITTING IN TWO OTHER ACCOUNTS?!?! PLUS I THOUGHT THEY HAD ATWORK ACCOUNTS FOR CITY EMPLOYEES. Its OK, I will move my little money elsewhere, where loyal clients are appreciated. No love lost, this is one reason I got out of banking.

This is our third car loan with FCU Mt. Dora, and we are very happy working with Sebastian Sanchez. He works diligently to meet our financial needs and is always professional. Everyone in the branch, from tellers to the manager, is always courteous. I highly recommend this branch.

I’ve been in the Credit union work force all my adult life. I just moved here and opened an account at FAIRWINDS CU. Less than impressed. Always a wait...customer service lacks, very different than what I’m use too. What happen to the credit union philosophy. People helping people.

We've been banking here for the past 3 years and usually their customer service is good ( I usually make our deposits through the drive up). I'm usually greeted by a friendly teller as soon as I pull up, my transactions are done correctly and promptly, and I usually receive a nice farewell and a thank you. On this day, Sept 27, 2018, I pulled up to the drive up as I usually do to make a usual deposit. There was NO one in the drive up, I pulled up as per usual, never recieved a hello or any acknowledgement whatsoever. I sent my transaction through, which I listed on the deposit slip to be deposited into our savings account. I waited for about 10 min, still with no acknowledgment waiting for my transaction, I finally received my transaction receipt and was sent on my way with a " have a good afternoon". It wasn't until my husband came home and asked if I had the deposit to our savings, to which I replied yes. He then pointed out to me that the deposit was INCORRECTLY made into our checking and NOT our savings account as was listed on the deposit slip. Soo my current experience at Fairwinds was as follows: NO acknowledgement, long wait (despite the fact that there was NO ONE at the drive up), and transaction handled incorrectly!!! After posting this review I was contacted by the teller who took care of my transaction and to their credit she did apologize for their mistake. Which brings us to yesterday November 5, 2018. I once again went thru the drive thru to make a deposit into our savings account. And once again taking for granted that they put the money in the correct account, but NO such luck! I got home and decided to just double check and sure enough they had deposited the money into our checking as opposed to our savings account. Which I guess is not really a big deal cause I can go online and transfer the funds, but it just shows the lack of attention when processing important financial documents. God knows what other erroneous mistakes are made!

I love this place already! I was able to go in, create a checking account for only a $25 deposit and they make your debit card on site and your funds are available before you leave out the door! You can literally go in and be all set up with a bunch of your own money and ready to renew your subscriptions to hulu and netflix in less than 20 minutes lol Friendly and professional staff too, I highly recommend.

Always a wait. Only 1 teller helping people in line, most of the time. Not run like a Credit Union but like a big bank. Mid-Florida Credit Union needs to move over here...they have good service!

My husband and myself were inquiring for a pool loan. We have spoken to Sebastian a few weeks ago and he had suggested a home equity loan. We've decided to shop around and the interest rates were high. Decided to go back to fairwinds and have left 3 messages for Sebastian to see if the loan was available. Have not received a return call. Since when does a business not return your call the same day or the next morning.

If you don't mind fees, like a bank would charge, then this is your credit union. very helpful personnel but our last credit union had a better explanation of charges and fees that keep popping up here when you think you're covering your bases.
