One thing DL Evans likes to brag about is "This is community banking". I would suggest changing your slogan. When comparing merrits betweeen ICCU, they lack up to date features, Like Tap to pay. When comparing to discover, they simply are the worst bank you can go to. Discover gives you free checks, gives you .40 APY no matter the balance, paid out monthly no service fee. All Discover Accounts have no fee, for anything. Now lets get into why I dislike DL Evans. I opened an account with them June, which I had used as my main account for a couple months. Then I switched to a better featured account, however keeping the local account as a just in case I need to cash a check (which you cant funds for 24 hours... "this is community banking")... I mainly used this account as a way to transfer cash on facebook, as Discover isn't accepted for these kinds of transactions. Anyway I keep the account open with a balance. I end up having some autopay thing hit the account and it overdrafted it. I didn't realize and I get a letter in the mail. I correct it the very next week (wasn't within the date of closure on the letter). I brought the account up to balance. Then I loose my job. So I pulled the $5 out for gas to get to my new job between checks. Well Short on cash I don't put anything in it that month. They close the account. No letter. No notice. Just closed. That same month I go to use the account to recieve payment via Facebook for something I sold. Said declined. I tried to log in. Cant. Strange? They really close your account for a $0 Balance within a month... (Keep in mind discover kept my checking account open with a $0 balance for awhile. I opened the Discover account back in 2018, and only just started using it August of 2020...) So then I started a company. I decided to give DL evans on last chance to retain me as a customer. I opened a Business Banking account with them. I was just wanting a bank account that I can deposit checks I recieve from a contract I was servicing. I needed to pay for a Background check that was $50. I overdrafted the account. I overdrafted extra to ensure if I need to pay for something else I wouldn't have to rerun the card. I get a call the following day asking when I would be paying it back. i informed them the end of next week. I then get a letter 2 days later stating they were disabling OD privileges because “Recent Account Closure” on the ChexSystems. This is a business account, and this was the only account opened by the business at the time. Oh well, Since I no longer have incintive to pay on time Ill just hold onto the cash until the 30 day mark. But then the very next week I get a letter stating pay or your account will be closed in 10 days. The account was over-drafted for 10 days... Their policy was 30 days, then your account od gets disabled. They would be paid in full on the day I said it was going to be paid but then they went and disabled OD with a bs reason. I get it this is a bank and they are taking a very safe approach to banking. But seriously, being this proactive is only damaging potential clients. If you did not want me to utlize this feature, within the terms stated, then Dont offer the feature. So I ask you, the Dl Evans employee reading this review, please inform your management that this shouldn’t be what “community banking” is. I remember reading about how they donated a bunch of money to a charity, which is great, but before donating spend a little on RND and stop banking in 2011.
