I opened my first bank account at 18 with laconia savings bank. Back then, it was a very good bank but I've watched the place go downhill over the last 12 years. I always used to cash in my coins there until they stopped allowing that. Coins aren't currency to them anymore but whatever. Then I had an ATM eat up $500 and they couldn't find the money. It took them a week and a half to find it and deposit it back into my account. A lot of wasted time on the phone just to get my own money back. At that time, I was frustrated and ready to store my money in a safe at my house. I closed my savings account and opened one at a credit union. Best thing I ever did. I've gotten plenty of loans there at great rates and am now refinancing my house through them to lower my interest rate. I left my checking account open at BNH for convenience since I've linked a lot of bills and accounts to that debit card. Today I went to cash a check and they refused. Company policy says they will not cash a check if your account balance won't cover it. I don't see the point in using this bank for anything. The customer service is terrible and they are so vague over the phone, you don't know if they can help you until you get there. For me, that means taking time off from work. Their loan interest rates are just about double what any other bank will offer and they don't want to work with you on any issues you have. The customer is not put first here so why be a customer? I'll be closing my last account with them tomorrow.

Hands down the best bank I ever had. I got my personal, business, and joint accont throw Bank Of New Hampshire. They have awesome incentives like... Getting consert tickets early. They have a cool feature on there app and on line banking like. Pay a friend, with this feature you can send money to anyone you like in seconds. Like one time my brother was broke down and needed gas. I was able to send him money in seconds and it does not matter who they bank with. As long as they have a debit card they can receive the money you send them in seconds. No other bank has had this feature. And the best part its free. Then they have A amazing team that is always willing to help. I've had more over drafts reversed Then I would like to admit to. I've never been given a hard time the tellers are super friendly. I can't imagine why a person would bank any were else.

      Response from the owner

NEVER bank here. I have been a member since I was old enough to have a bank account, and it was still called Laconia Savings Bank. After spending three months fighting with customer service trying to get fraudulent charges taken off my account I was finally able to do so. Only to have the bank (without ANY warning) revoke the funds months later, overdraft me, and charge me 35$ in fees for the pleasure. Amazing how when the bank needs money they can just take it without warning, but when my money is taken I get to spend months struggling to put food in my fridge. Just another bank that got too big for its own good. Take your money elsewhere, it's not worth the headache.

We came out of Bank of NH shaking our heads. We were treated so rudely there, my Uncle and I both, by one of the tellers. She made everything very difficult without offering any real service, and was condescending and a little threatening. (Ill do this for you this one time, but next time you better have this and that.) I had questions and without being willing to help, she just throws sheets at me to fill out. the manager at the desk was very friendly and helpful, so that did help us. We only use Bank of NH to deposit our rent as that’s where my landlord withdraws from. We just went into TD Bank and they were so friendly and hospitable, warm and helpful! They have never given us any issues and are always suggesting things to be helpful. Thank you so much TD Bank for years of great service!

If I could give it ZERO stars I would. DO NOT USE THIS BANK. They will not keep your money safe and will blame you for someone else stealing your money and WILL NOT RETURN IT. The point of a bank is to ensure your money is safe and it won’t be here and they will do nothing to help you once it’s gone.

      Response from the owner

Hi, Kerry. Thank you for reaching out to us. Meeting the needs of our customers and community is very important to us and I apologize if we couldn't meet your expectations. All feedback that we receive helps us get better and grow as we learn. Again, we appreciate your time and value your input. Thank you.

I've been struggling financially due to having kidney cancer and not getting a raise for 10 years. I was afraid to give my notice at my job because I needed my health insurance. I finally got the courage up to start a new job and after going through a training period I will be making much more money. After explaining my situation. This bank has been very supportive when I have had an issue. Thank you :)

      Response from the owner

Sandra, thank you for the 5-star review! We are happy we were able to help.

The people at this branch are awesome, both the manager and assistant manager are extremely professional and courteous. Any time I’ve had any problems they’ve both been very helpful and resolved any issues I’ve had. This is the type of bank you want to deal with, not some massive corporate bank that only wants to sell you “products” like credit cards and more accounts I don’t need.

      Response from the owner

Thank you for the 5-star review and for reaching out with positive feedback!

Its usually a pretty good bank. I think the ppl are nice. Only problem I had is when I deposited money in their ATMs at two different BNH banks right at their bank , it took so long to credit my account and I couldn't use it til they did. Thought with it right there especially it would be counted that day or at the very least, the next day. If I would of known I wouldn't of put it in there and gone in or to drive thru. Otherwise, is cool. And get to buy concert tickets early for being member!

The recent release of the records of the three major banks stating that they made 6 billion dollars on overdraft and ATM charges I believe that the Bank of New Hampshire is trying to compete. My wife had been a customer of Laconia Savings for many year and have recently closed her accounts with them due to the response to charges made on a credit card purchased which she tried to stop on the Saturday and the bank didn't make any response until the following Tuesday reversed the charges only to reinstate them a month later Now they transferred her loan balance to a personal loan the statement was dated 1/15 postmarked 1/20 and received on 1/25 with a due date of 1/30 as we now reside in Florida. If it takes them 10 days to get it to her how do they expect to have it paid by 1/30. Especially as you can not pay on line unless you have a checking or savings account with THEM. Get into the 21st century.
