Shannon Lin1On October 14th around 2:30 PM I called Advance America to inquire about the hours for Indigenous People's Day. The man who answered the call laughed and asked if I was one of the " Indians in question" that " we" were supposed to be celebrating and said that they wouldn't lend money to "those types of people" here at Advance America anyway and that the only people who celebrate " Indians" is other Indians or blacks. As a black woman, I was extremely disappointed and insulted and hope that this particular employee is not reflective of this institution in general. I will be calling higher ups immediately and telling all the people I know who considered Advance America, regardless of their RACE, about what transpired today.
