First I want to mention that we've been a customer here for over 30 years. Next I want to mention, THE LOBBY IS CLOSED! This is not due to the "pandemic" as they claim, otherwise all the other banks in town would be closed. My guess is they don't have enough staff. Meanwhile, we get the unpleasant experience of trying to conduct business from our car using a tube after waiting in line for a half hour. This is not acceptable and I'm considering switching where I do my banking. EDIT: this is to say that while it is nice that they offer a variety of options, which I already knew about except for the ability to make an appt. My last transaction involved cashing a check of a large amount with the lady at the microphone asking me what I was going to do with my money (!) and could they put a ten day hold on it. Had I been inside where I could have a decent conversation it might have gone a little differently and I wouldn't be waiting until Monday to pay for the vehicle I'm buying at Don's.

      Response from the owner

Dear Heather, Thank you for writing and sharing your concerns with us. While our lobbies are indeed temporarily closed, we are accepting limited appointments. You can call either branch to schedule one if you have more business than you’re comfortable transacting in the drive through! We also have other options for transactions that may appeal to you. For example, if you are only making a deposit or a loan payment, you can use the night drop – located near the ATM. If we receive your deposit by 4pm, we’ll complete your transaction that same business day. If you use the night drop after hours or on the weekend, we’ll complete it the next business day. Another option for deposits is on our mobile app: Remote Deposit Capture. Once you’ve enrolled, you can make a check deposit by simply taking a picture with your phone! Those are processed by the end of the day as long as you deposit before 3 pm. If you want to make a withdrawal, you can use our ATM machine at either branch, or the new one located down in Primos on the South end of Cadillac. Members don’t pay fees! Shared branching may also be a good option for you. West Michigan CU is one of those here in Cadillac, and you can make a withdrawal or deposit there as well. There is a small fee for check-cashing, so one of the above options may be better to avoid that fee. Finally, we know there are certain days of the month that are always busier than others. The first and third days of the month are when our members’ social security and disability funds are deposited and it’s always very busy, usually for the entire day. Lunch times – between 11am and 2pm – are busy hours and best avoided if at all possible. We value your long-term membership and hope to continue to be your financial institute! If you would like to discuss any of these options further, please give us a call and we’ll be happy to discuss them with you. Sincerely, WCCU

Even on weekdays drive through times have always taken 30 minutes even with only 2 cars in front of you. Atm only let's your withdraw $500 and if you need more, you have to wait anywhere from 30 minutes to 45 minutes in line. People have used their whole lunch break to try and get through here. I loved it when we could go inside but unfortunately we can't. Maybe you guys should've thought of something better to do to get lines going. This is outrageous.

This credit union is so slow. You always wait 1/2 hour to 45 minutes to get to the window. Then when you do, you wait another 10 minutes just to withdraw money. The employees are rude. Do not recommend this place at all. Would be faster to drive to Lake City and go to that bank.

      Response from the owner

Dear Katie, With the pandemic lobby closure, we understand that our drive-through lanes can take longer, especially on Saturdays or on days where other funds come into accounts en masse, such as Social Security or local payroll days. Depending on where you live, you might try one of the shared-branch credit unions which may not have as much traffic as we do. You can make deposits, withdrawals, and other basic functions at many other credit union locations. For WCCU members, there are local options when you're ready to do your banking. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly if you would like to further discuss your specific experience. Thank you.

I have been with this credit union a very long time. Very upset with the decision to close earlier. Unfortunately I have a half hour lunch and waiting in line at the bank puts me back late to work most every time. Not to mention I had to answer my phone and put them on hold and although the teller didn't hear me speaking as I was not ...she seen my phone and promptly reprimanded me for being on my phone. Since there was no conversation you can't assume a person is talking. I was putting on hold so I could finish my transaction as it was an important call. Again I only have one half hour to take care of these things. Not being friendly is frustrating as the most of the 8:00 to 5:00 people now do not have a choice in the matter. Just hoping that you take in consideration these things as you have really affected a lot of people by changing your hours.

WCCU has been phenomenal to work with!! Great experience with a home mortgage, and great experience with the commercial department for my business needs. The tellers and customer service are always friendly and do a great job. I would completely recommend them for any banking needs!!

Recently I’ve been very disappointed in my credit union. The staff is friendly but their organization I think is poor. I have a business account and personal accounts at the credit union. I paid on my visa out of my personal account to another institution. They froze all my account because they said I had not turned in my DBA for my business. I had to take the proof in that I had already bring that to them but by now my payments that I made for my visa did not go through I try to keep my credit score good but this credit union just made it look like I didn’t pay my Visa bill. now it looks like I owe a high amount. Trying to build up my credit it’s been hard with businesses like this messing my credit score up very disappointed. I turn this paperwork back in in June. Too bad it didn’t get in the system so I was not having these problems all the way in December. Their staff is a high turnover rate. I expected them to apologize for the inconvenience they had caused me. Nope just I’m glad you took care of this now your bank accounts are not frozen. She reassured me that it would get my file right away this time.

Always great service at both branches. The Lake City branch is not busy for the most part.

Not sure how but accidentally had an online order pull from my savings account instead of my checking which resulted in a NSF fee of $28. I checked my payment for the online order and it stated checking account so not sure how it pulled from my savings. They returned the payment twice. So then they transferred money from my checking to savings to cover the two NSF fees. I don't understand I had money in my checking why they couldn't transfer money to cover the payment but can transfer money to take for themselves. Almost $60 taken from me when the money was there just in the wrong place. And they won't work with you on the fees either. They are a joke. Very unpleased!

This place is so slow. There were 3 cars infront of us and we were in like for 45 mins. When finally got to the window everyone was standing around talking. I think it would’ve been quicker to drive to Lake city and use their branch.

      Response from the owner

Dear Carmen, we understand your frustration with the lines. When Covid forced the lobbies closed, the drive through became our only avenue to serve our members. Your visit coincided with lunches and our Lead Teller was disseminating information to the staff at that shift change. Fridays are always busy, and Lane 1 is used for signing documents, which does necessitate a longer wait time in that lane in particular. There are other avenues of service, however, that may suit your needs more! You can use our mobile app, which allows you to remotely deposit checks. Online banking lets you transfer between your accounts as well as make loan payments or transfer to another member's account. If you're just making a deposit, you can use the night drop, located near the ATM. (Those are deposited on the same business day!) There is also the Shared Branching option! You can use other credit unions just like WCCU to make withdraws, deposits, or payments. There is a list of participating credit unions on https://search.xtendcu.com/ and local shared branches include West Michigan FCU in Cadillac, Forest Area in Manton, or TBA in Traverse City. There are many, and perhaps one will be closer to you, or less busy than WCCU. Again, we appreciate your frustration with the lines. We have nearly 10,000 members and we do our best to keep things moving, despite the lobby closures. If you have any suggestions, we would love to speak with you! Thanks so much for your patience.
