We used titlepro for our closing, on recommendation of our realtor. Once we had an agreement in place with them, they emailed a form related to title insurance which I had to fill out and fax back - everyone else has online signing - why not them? But whatever, I wasted the paper and time to fax it back. No reply the next day they had received it, so I sent a follow up email to confirm. No answer. Next week, next follow up email, no answer. Finally found out the form had been received when my mortgage company sent over final numbers, and my choice in title insurance was listed. Several days before the closing, I emailed to get the wire instructions for my down-payment. Called as well, based on prior emails. Phone rang as disconnected. There was a storm and some areas of the state had no power. So I also contacted my realtor to see if she knew another way to contact. Nothing. All weekend, nothing. Also contacted my mortgage lender but they had nothing to offer, other then to say only the title company would know. Finally Monday I get a call from the title company - she was surprised and had no idea I was trying to contact. Was just calling to check in. I told her I needed wire info immediately or wire would not be in time. Again she was surprised, thought I was paying by check. Since I have an online bank and no branch to get a check from, I never would have said check, she just assumed. Got the wire info but not in time before wire cutoff time. They blamed it all on the power outage - but in my opinion, if you do a time sensitive job, in a state with frequent outages, you need a mitigation plan. Email can be gotten on any PC or a phone, just need to setup. Confirming how payment will be made could have been done weeks in advance. Everyone there was nice enough and helpful, but they are not setup for 21st century business, and I will go elsewhere next time.
