I was told by the Fidelity agent that the name on the title had to be the same as the name on the sales contract. I told the woman emphatically that I wanted my partner's name on the title but she kept repeating that the title would be filled out with the same name that was on the original sales contract. Finally the salesperson representing the seller offered to provide a form that served as an addendum to the original sales contract and allowed a second name to be added. Using that form we filled out the change and she had the seller and myself both sign the change form. If the Fidelity agent had had her way, I would have been forced to retitle the property once it had been filed with the county which may have caused additional fees. Fidelity charged both the seller and myself $400 each, a total of $800 for the preparation of the paperwork, filing the deeds and their escrow services. This was a cash transaction with no mortgage paperwork to deal with. They refused to accept a cashier's check and insisted that a wire transfer was the only way they would accept payment. However, when the seller was paid, it was by a check from them. In my opinion their service was poor and their price way too high!”
