David Tucker at Great Western Bank has been absolutely wonderful to work with. We've gone through him for two separate loans now and both times he has been prompt, professional, helpful and patient with all of our questions. I highly recommend working with David for your loan needs!

I was trying to use MY money from MY account and they froze my account. I called and confirmed it was me and then they called me back 3 hours later confirming again. (Which leads me to believe my account wasn’t noted) Then because they locked my account my rent payment was returned. This resulted in $150 in fees at my apartment for late fees and a returned payment. When I called the bank i was basically told it was not their problem and nothing they would do about it. Will be finding a new bank immediately. Also the last three times i went to the bank to deposit money they didn’t even care to listen to what I wanted done. Did whatever they wanted and then charged me a fee when I had to move the money where I asked for it to be in the first place. If you are look for a good bank keep looking because this is not the one.

Since the take over of Great Western it has been nothing but mistakes, app problems and customer service who don't know the system.

      Response from the owner

Hi Jane, We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience we have caused you and appreciate your patience. Please consider connecting with your local banker in the branch for more information and discussion. We would appreciate the opportunity to work with you 1-on-1 to better understand where we may have missed the mark and discuss how we can support you.

Everyone at this bank is so helpful and friendly. They greet me by name immediately, and are quick to help with any problems or questions. They are super patient with Girl Scout Cookie season and me coming in with scattered unorganized envelopes of money. So patient. Thanks!

I love this bank! I’ve never had any issues. Taylor is always my teller(which is fun because my name is also Taylor) and she is awesome! She is so friendly and kind!

I’ve been using Great Western for years, and the location in Ames is wonderful! I deposit cash at least once a week here and the service is always friendly and fast!

Freezes your account if you're overdrawn and then charges you fifty bucks to unfreeze it. Not to mention your overdraft charges. In the meantime your paychecks won't be deposited into your account because it's frozen. The fees compound almost daily. Fees, fees, and more fees. I don't know how they get away with these financial shenanigans. Avoid this bank at all costs.

I had a check written to me that was drawn on great western. They said that because I was not a customer of theirs they were going to charge me 5$ just to cash their check. Then they asked for my thumbprint as if I'm some sort of criminal. Some nerve charging people money to use their freekin money.

Everyone is super nice, but holy cow slow service! They need to have people just working the drive through and just working the counter! Not running back and forth doing both. I can't stand waiting a half an hour during my lunch break just to deposit my check.
