Personally, I have done business since I was 12 years old with these people. I know Bob, and I'll say upfront the place is pretty much conventionally a Conservative Republican's paradise on one hand, and a retro gaming guitarists gift shop on there other hand. They have a unique display of old coins, jewelry, and a pretty decent collection of DvD and you guessed it even old school VHS tapes cheap. I'll say another thing, these people that run the place are great at negotiating and you won't get a one up on them, so I am sad to say I couldn't get probably but 45$ of 60$ for my PlayStation 4 and he would sell it for 200$ or 179.99$. This place is basically a gift shop to me, one with the most old school western quality, and a great place to check out what guitars or other instruments may have stumbled in there. In the year of Covid-19, and the election cycle I am narrowing my review to Gilmer Pawn's firearm/reloading area. Bob & company at the store have done a better than adequate job of keeping stock on the shelf. The rifle racks are full, pistols in the cases are quick to move. Most stores are about 10-20% stocked with reloading suppies, but here... More like 40-50+%. Plenty of used accessories to pick through also.

Look. I have known these people for 6-7 years now. They are people like us all with a hard job of trying to please everybody. I have been in there dozens of times and have seen the ups and downs of dealing with difficult situations. If you’ve ever owned a business you know what I mean. Every single person I have talked to in there has been decent and helpful. They are good people with very fair prices. They can’t do it for free y’all. And why would they want to let you bring in lower quality items for pawn? So you can lose it to them and leave them with junk? What are they supposed to do with it. Sell it even at a reduced price so it will malfunction and give them a bad name?? These people are Christians but don’t expect cake and ice cream when you walk in the door. IT IS A BUSINESS!! “Not a charity ward” (as Mr. Potter would say on “Its a wonderful life”). Try to buy archery, used quality firearms, or reloading equipment in Gilmer. Ain’t happening. Gilmer Pawn Shop has all of it.

Need to update the hours they've gone out of business

Not sure what happened here, but the folks used to be friendly and helpful. Now it's a different story. They're pretty aloof and if you don't have anything worth pawning (to them, they want the higher end stuff) or not interested in buying some of the more overpriced stuff they have, they seem to really not want to even talk to you. Kinda sad to have had the experiences I've had with them lately, and will not be returning for anything.

I just moved her a little over a yr. ago and have done business with this pawn shop for about the same amount of time. Due to the fact they are the only game in town they think that gives them the right to be disrespectable, rude and aloof. After frequent visits and encountering the same bad attitude from the owners and workers, Ive decided to take my business else where. They dont deserve my patronage and I dont deserve the blanent disrespect. Cherokee Pawn has always been friendly and respectable, sure its a little drive but well worth it! Gilmer Pawn Shop you have lost my business forever, which is shame because Im very loyal to local businesses. I also noticed you have the Google review option closed which doesnt surprise me because its harder to control the negative comments.

A friend needed help and I explained the situation and they really came thru. I was able to help my friend at a critical time in her life. I am thankful for their help. They are truly a home town business and that is rare these days.

They have great owners and fair prices. Always answer all of my questions, and I usually have a few, never give me any trouble.
