Provided a great auditorium for a town hall meeting. Easy to find. Easy drop off and parking.

Nice facility. Went to a cheer competition there. Parking is available. Gymnasium was spacious with theater type seating

Campus is always clean and the staff is very helpful. I’m very grateful to be a student at such a good school. The rate my professor reviews tend to be very accurate for the professors but I’ve had an overall excellent experience.

      Response from the owner

We're so happy you're enjoying your time at ECC. We love to hear that we're exceeding expectations and we're thrilled that you feel like a part of the ECC family.

It's ok. The education is good and cheap, but some of the professors are embarrassingly liberal. But then again, it's probably the same way at all colleges.

Got my 2 year degree here a few years ago, looking to come back for more classes. Great school to get a 2 year degree from.

I didn’t know I Loved ECC, until I moved and I was out of district so I had to go to MCC. I Hate MCC everything and everyone is shut off by 4pm and there’s no almost no teachers willing to teach past 4 (There are but only some). This is impossible to manage. I’m getting a job near ECC so I can go back. I MISS YOU. Not only does ecc have a ton a teachers, but they offer a variety of times for classes especially in the afternoon. There teachers are wonderful and dedicated (not all of course but most) and there facility offers so many different activities and clubs you can go crazy in there. I won’t cheat on you MCC but I will inform you when I leave you and that it’s not working out.

      Response from the owner

Ruby we're so happy you're enjoyed your time at ECC. We love to hear that we exceeded expectations and we're thrilled that you feel like a part of the ECC family. We hope to see you around campus soon!

I will start with the good. The instructors are amazing. Most of them that I have had are very intelligent and filled with the necessary knowledge to teach you. Now the bad. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE COUNSELORS!!!! Figure out what classes you need to take on your own. I spent 3.5 years there with a combination of full and part time and have no degree and no requirements for any programs that I told them I was most interested in. When I was a vulnerable 17 year old first generation college student there completely on my own they told me I needed to take reading for Nursing. For one, looking back, I placed out of reading. For two, I have yet to come across a nursing program that requires reading. It seems that they always gave me the run around and had me taking all of the classes that I did not need, and none of the classes that I did need. If you can figure out what classes you need to take on your own, then The school if great, and the education that you receive is great. If you have nobody to help you or guide you in your life and are solely dependent on the counselors advise, find an alternative.

      Response from the owner

Hello Amber, We are glad to know you are happy with the instruction you have received at ECC, however, we’re sorry to hear about your negative experiences. We will share your insights with others at the college and wish you the best in your future academic pursuits.

Professors and library staff are great. Testing placement staff, and book store staff are awful. Today I called because I have to retake a math placement test, and asked if I could take it online instead of having to come in, since I work full-time and have a busy schedule. The lady assisting me laughed for about a good 2 minutes and replied, “you have to come in nice try though”. Not very good service for someone who was genuinely asking, could have just replied with a simple no! These department staff are so rude and seem annoyed when you ask them questions, I’ve never had a good experience with either, and dread having to deal with them.

      Response from the owner

Thank you for making the college aware of your discussion with our Testing Services staff. Please know that the response you received is not reflective of the service Elgin Community College promotes and therefore, will be addressed. Also, feel free to contact either me or Dr. Jennifer McClure about the college’s placement testing procedures. Gregory D. Robinson, Dean of Student Services and Development at [email protected] / 847-214-7274 or Dr. Jennifer McClure, Managing Director of Enrollment Services at [email protected] / 847-214-7460

I have been going part time for 3 years and I love this school. I went to College of Dupage for a few years before Elgin college and my experience here has been way better. The staff are all nice and helpful and you get that home feeling at this College.
