They gave me a debit card to my mom's account accidentally. For both our names are on each other's accounts. Glad mom & I caught this.... hope this doesn't ever happen again. The Englewood branch also had the worst manager IAN. He has the worst customer service for a manager.

      Response from the owner

Hi Tiana, I want start by apologizing for your frustration. We use all reviews to improve our service and will absolutely send this information to our Operations management to be aware of the problem and work to make sure this never happens again. We have also added notes to your account, specifically, so that we can be particularly cautious with your account. As for the service you received, I would like to have the new Englewood branch manager, Shawna, reach out to you. We may not be able to do anything at this time, but I want to make sure that you have direct access to a manager for any future questions. My team is also always available at [email protected]. On a final note, we are currently running a review promotion for honest, online reviews and want to make sure you receive one of our gift kits. Shawna will be able to have one of these ready for you to pick up at your convenience. Thank you for taking the time to review us! Best, Colin ACU Communications

This bank is terrible. I had an rv Loan through them, and the rv was totaled and paid off via my insurance. They marked my credit as a charge off and now I can’t get another recreational loan thanks to them. Would never use this bank for anything again.

I do not care to mess with financial matters but Jenn made my experience so easy, I didn't feel stressed or overwhelmed. She explained things very carefully and answered questions I didn't know I had. Jenn even shared a beauty tip or two. I look forward to a long, pleasant relationship.

Worst Service I have received by a company by far! I will not be using them again and I encourage others stay away. Time after time I was given wrong information which cost me hundreds of dollars, a car, and a possible damage to my credit score. I was with American First before and I wish I never left.

      Response from the owner

Dear Mr. Eubanks, First off, I am sorry for any complications you are running into. Our policies and procedures are guided by a number of different considerations including legal and member/ owner concerns and communicating these concerns can be fantastically difficult at times. This is especially true in unique situations such as yours. Unfortunately, I cannot do much for you online, so I am asking our Director of Virtual Services to reach out to you directly. He is among the most knowledgeable employees available and will be the best person to help. You can also reach my team directly at [email protected] if we can do anything else. I walk in to cash a check from one of my costumers I don’t have a account with them but they sucks!!!! They only can cash a $500 hundred dollar check with a $20 dollar fee !!!! Wow I’m glad I don’t have a account with them it should be expensive with this fees I will not take any check from this bank not good for my business

      Response from the owner

Hi Mr. Perez, I am always sorry to hear of any negative experiences at Arapahoe CU. Fees, in particular, are enormously difficult to balance. On the one hand, we pride ourselves on service and doing what is right for our members. On the other hand, operating the credit union requires mitigating security risks, maintaining compliance, and, of course, absorbing expenses related to financial services in general. Unfortunately, fees will always be necessary, but I assure you that we only charge when necessary and certainly with good reason. Moreover, when we do have fees in place, we work to help our members avoid them. Essentially, if we don’t have to charge a fee (on a credit union level), we won’t. That said, I want to make sure you understand the purpose of fees like this and what we do to try and help people avoid it. This one arises from two general issues: First, checks are incredibly high risk and perhaps the easiest method to manipulate the credit union to take losses for; Second, compliance regulations from the Bank Secrecy Act require significantly more processing than what would have been even a few decades ago. For the first issue, all check processing becomes essentially more expensive for the credit union because of potential losses. In our case, being a credit union, these losses aren’t spread across shareholders or stock prices, but among our members themselves. As such, we do whatever we can to avoid making our membership pay for potential losses. This fee offsets the inherent risk while also encouraging more secure payment methods. The second issue is more complicated. The Bank Secrecy Act implemented after 9/11 requires us to maintain records of any individual, entity, or organization that we do business with. This applies, notably, to anyone we give money to through check cashing. Of course, this is absolutely nothing on you, individually, but it does require us to take additional processing steps. We now have to occupy a staff member’s time, run additional reports, and maintain additional record-keeping on the back end. All of this becomes significantly more expensive for the credit union, especially considering alternative payment methods available (that are also more secure). We absolutely work to help members avoid unnecessary costs of any kind. For example, fees like overdraft and return fees are universal to all financial institutions. ACU, however, offers customized overdraft sequences that help members avoid them until absolutely necessary. Our staff is also trained extensively to help members manage their accounts. Moreover, we offer electronic transfers that avoid the potential for this fee. Our external transfer feature can be used to make payments to any business without having to share banking information. This allows members to move money more quickly, with less risk, and with largely reduced administration costs. I understand this doesn’t help you as a non-member, but the information may be helpful in the future. Bank Secrecy laws will always be a concern for any bank or credit union and ensuring low costs for our membership is a primary concern for us in particular. Of course, ACU also uses online reviews for the feedback they provide. I will make sure this is noted for the next time our fee schedule is up for review. I am also around if I can help with any additional information or to answer any questions you may have. Feel free to contact my team at [email protected] or call me direct at 303-488-0637.
