Loan officers don’t return phone calls. Called 3 branches several times (McCalla, Bessemer and Hueytown). I even had someone go by the McCalla branch and ask if a loan officer was available and they said yes but they can’t call me. I have to call them even though I already have several times and left a message. In other words they don’t respond to their voicemails.
The last 7 times my mom has went here to deposit money, the banker ALWAYS messes it up. Puts it in another account, puts it in savings when it’s supposed to be in checking, anything we ask it’s done the opposite. Today, my mothers car payment wouldn’t have been paid in full and we would have gotten a late fee on YOUR mistake. We finally addressed it today and they blamed it on them being short staff and Covid. It doesn’t take you being short staffed or a 12 year old to put the money in the right account. Please stop blaming your multiple mistakes on covid. Other than this being an issue every single time, they are a great bank and offer great things, but please pay attention when you deal with money.
I wanted to open an account but the white female manager who’s office is closer to the doors kept servicing other white people that would walk in meanwhile I’m just sitting there.
I recently financed some property i wanted to buy and David Couture with America’s first was a pleasure to work with! He was a fantastic loan originator and made the whole land process easy to understand and stress free. I have bought and sold property before using other people in the past and it was never pleasant like this time was. Would highly recommend to others.
I guess first impressions aren't important to this particular branch. Initially, the banker I sat with didn't bother to make conversation with me for a good 10 mins straight after being seated. I don't know her name because she didn't care to introduce herself. Since she seemed annoyed about me simply asking her about them directly, I asked for a brochure about some products and services this CU offers. I had my hand out for it but she threw it on the table instead. She was rude and very condescending for the first half of the appointment. It wasn't until I made her aware of my employment background in banking that she started to humanize her interaction with me. There's another lady (she answers the phones) who walked right in the middle of the appointment and started talking to the banker... while I was in MID sentence! She didn't say "excuse me" or anything and the banker just sat there and let it happen. I realize that the integrity (or lack there of) of these particular employees aren't necessarily reflective of how the company as whole will treat me. But how can I wholeheartedly trust that this institution will thoroughly assess my banking needs, when they employ people who can't even execute concepts as simple as customer service?
Opened my first account in my teens. They have also served me well. Credit unions are the way to go and AFFCU is tops and the folks in the McCalla branch are fantastic.
Worst bank ever!!! My husband went into the bank to do a transfer to an auto loan we have with them and little did we know the bank MANAGER never did it. This same bank is also responsible for putting my mothers account into the negative because they put her money in her savings account instead of her checking account( which she told & wrote on the deposite slip that it was to go into her checking). Plus the manager was SUPER RUDE!!
Had to wait a few minutes while the account representatives were waiting on others, but it was a reasonable wait time. My son was getting his first account and they were super patient and friendly. I enjoyed it. Recommend this location!
Long holds on every single check and hidden fees galore. Also, the employees are short with you, condescending and make no attempt to hide their attitude that you are just a number and that it is a privilige to you that they allow you to store your money in their bank. Google forced me to give at least 1 star in order to write this review but they don't even deserve that!
They've made me change my mind about banking. They are probably the best staffing ever. They are super friendly and helpful. And if they can't help you they'll point you in the right direction.
